Case Study Questions

  1. What was the aim of participating in the Mental Health and Wellbeing programme?

We wanted more awareness for ourselves and our colleagues in recognising when someone is having an issue and tips for how to deal with it. We wanted help to understand what people are going through.

  1. Has the programme achieved these aims?

Oh yes, definitely, and more! The parrot on my shoulder regularly gets knocked off!

We’ve been able to help other people with alternate ways of looking at things. We’ve realised that it’s ok not to have to be all things to everyone and  it’s ok not to be ok.

  1. What have been the impacts of this programme?

On a personal level, I now take some time out of every day for myself and my self-care.

It’s given me a better understanding of myself. I know now that there are some things that I can change and there are some things I can’t. Knowing myself more has given me more insight and coping strategies. Some of our colleagues weren’t sure about attending the course, but are now doing Mindfulness on a regular basis!

  1. How have you and / or your team used the programme information and strategies?

We’ve got a whole new language now (like ‘knock the parrot off’). It’s become part of our lives. It’s made us all aware that our mental health is just like any other part of our health and can suffer at times, especially during the last year. Lockdowns have affected everybody in different ways, so I think the course came just at the right time for us.

It was wonderful.

  1. What has been the feedback from individuals who have attended the programme?

Really good. People found  that there was things that they could help members of their family with. Some people weren’t sure about doing the course but that they’re really glad that they did.

  1. What would you say to individuals or organisations who are considering participating in the programme?

It’s a no-brainer. Go for it! You couldn’t fail to get something out of it. It’s a gentle course that is well-paced. I found it calming and relaxing.

  1. Are there any other comments about the programme you’d like?

A follow up would be good. With stress being one of the highest risk factors to health in the workplace, we have listed this course as one of the measures that we have put in place to mitigate this.
